TAKE ACTION: Dourson is a toxic candidate to head the EPA Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention

The Trump Administration has nominated Michael Dourson to head the EPA Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP), the office charged with reviewing and ensuring the safety of chemicals, including pesticides like chlorpyrifos and many others.

Alarmingly, Dourson has spent much of his professional career receiving payment from chemical companies and their trade associations to publish papers and studies that undermine existing science and concerns about toxic chemicals, and call for weaker regulations on chemicals.

On chlorpyrifos specifically, Dourson was paid by Dow Agrosciences to downplay concerns about the chemical and cast doubt on a Columbia university study linking prenatal exposures to chlorpyrifos to irreversible neurodevelopmental problems in children. In other words, to hide the fact that chlorpyrifos is dangerous to kids. Really dangerous.

In a nutshell, Dourson is a threat to the health and safety of children and farm workers across the country.

This Wednesday, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will hold a hearing on his nomination. Join us in telling your senators to oppose Michael Dourson.
